Barn News Update

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

HI Everyone,

Sorry for the long delay between posts…too much riding on the beach, and then too much school!

So there is lots of news to share…

New Arrivals

A welcome to new boarders Christine with Lorenzo and Bronwyn with Delphine, and of course all of Katie’s troup!  We also welcome Gabby’s new lease horse, Hannah. Hannah is available for half lease, she is very well behaved and jumps nicely too.

Also a welcome to Stacey. Stacey buys and trains TBs, and she was the previous owner of Echo.  She now has Annie in the barn as her next project.

And we all know, of course, that Deanna has got her own horse, so the happy appy is now having a holiday. Vienna is by Vienna Waltz, and is 14 years old.  She will be doing the jumpers this summer.

Clinic

The other big news is that Will Simpson is coming to give a clinic next week. Will is teaching all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the 23, 24, 25th of October.

Cafe

So Efrain and Carmen will be doing the cafe Monday to Friday 330-430 and Saturday and Sunday midday. Watch for open times, and please try to support their start up venture.

Horses Bought and Sold

Well, we have purchased several horses recently. LIttle Miss and Othello are lesson horses. Little Miss is a TB/WB cross that has done the Hunters. Othello is a big TB that has also done the Hunters. Echo is a sales horse that has also shown in the Hunter ring.

We have also acquired Copacabana, a 3 year old mare by Capone as a sales project.  She arrived last night and has settled in already.

We also sold Crescent’s Neon Moon, also known as Nicky, to Bonnee James for her daughter as a show pony.  Bonnee said her daughter was up at 6 am today to have her first ride.

Also sold was Madeleine Hawkin’s horse, Gabby. This lovely mare went to a local home, so I am sure Madeleine will be able to visit her.

Projects

Well, the new footing is almost finished in the indoor, the rest of the sand arrives on Monday. The lesson ring got new hogsfuel this summer as well as laser levelling, and we are going to put in more hogsfuel.

The annoying pigeons are becoming fewer by the day, and hopefully it will not be long before they are all gone….you don’t want to know.

Mark has been putting in the posts for the three new paddocks and he is almost finished. It takes 1-2 hours to put in each post, so you can imagine how cheerful he is when he gets home after a rainy day :).

With this great weather, we have been able to keep the fields open longer than usual, including using the Grand Prix field. Katie has been teaching quite a few lessons out there, and lots of people have been hacking as well.

You also might have noticed that there has been a lot of painting. We have painted the indoor, the main barn outside and stall doors, the cross ties and lockers, most of Shed Row B, and the front of the lesson barn…as well as all the jump standards.

We also painted the big lounge…….no, that is not the color we were expecting……perhaps the aqua green walls and blue carpet will grow on us.

Well, that is all the news for now…the picture below is Nicky in his new home….
