Riding School

Crescent Stables offers a comprehensive Riding School Program focusing on English riding and horsemanship, with the opportunity for more advanced riders to specialize in dressage or hunter/jumper training.

We have  one of the largest selections of quality school horses in the area with over 25 horses in our lesson string, with horses and ponies to suit all sizes and levels of experience.

Our number one priority is providing fun, safe and correct instruction for everyone. We cater to children and adults at all levels, from first time riders to A-circuit competitors. We also encourage our junior students to learn responsibility by helping with the horses, and we actively promote the development of empathy, conscientiousness and good peer relationships.

Riding Lessons available in English and French.

What to Expect

We ensure that each of our students are able to catch, groom, tack, and check over their horse each time they ride. If you are new to riding the Beginner Package will allow you to learn all of these skills plus get some riding time in of course!  Once riders are able to get ready themselves they are invited to come approximately 30 minutes prior to their lesson to do so.

We have a large collection of rubber riding boots for you to use when starting out, though most boots with a ¼” heel will be acceptable (please confirm with your coach before riding). We also have many helmets of different sizes for borrow however we recommend purchasing your own if you intend to ride regularly.

Lesson Horses

Crescent has a wide variety of lesson horses, ranging from the fairly high strung athletes for competition purposes. New riders start out on quiet, well behaved horses. More experienced riders might also ride these horses, but they also might branch out into some of our former competition horses that are Thoroughbreds or Warmbloods. Our Junior Coaches ride the younger horses and are often preparing to compete some of the lesson horses or the competition horses we have available for part board.

Part Board

Part Boarding is sort of like part time horse ownership. Part Boarding allows for practice time riding in the ring, as well as hang out time with “your” horse. Part Board horses often open up the opportunity to really focus on a specific discipline in your riding as well as attend shows or clinics.

Email us at info@crescentstables.com for more information regarding Part Boarding.

Rookie Riders

Several times a year, Crescent offers the National Program, Rookie Riders.

Meant to increase physical literacy, Rookie Riders program is a fun and comprehensive program that teaches activities and skills that are fundamental to success in horseback riding and other sports. Rookie Riders includes games, basic gymnastic on mats, movements on a barrel and can even include riding a horse.

These types of skills align with FUNdamental movements and mental skills that are age and stage appropriate for children aged 6 to 12, in accordance with the National Sport for Life Long Term Athlete Development model.

This is so popular that we also offer an adult version, which includes yoga and social outings.
